NYD Webteam: November 2017
John and Anne Peters of Brompton on Swale Methodist Church are making
preliminary enquiries to see if there is sufficient interest to organise a party to go up to the
Sannox Christian Centre, on the Isle of Arran (www.sannox.org) for a time of Retreat and Fellowship.
The Sannox Christian Centre is an ongoing development, and the first phase is now
completed. This consists of a large converted farmhouse, called "Dundarroch". Here there
are four ensuite bedrooms, all with single beds, some with two and some with three beds.
There are no single rooms at Dundarroch but it should be possible to arrange single room
accommodation in a nearby guesthouse or B&B. Likewise if more people wished to come
than there was room for at Dundarroch, extra accommodation could be arranged.
Approximate Costings based on 2017 prices are:
The accommodation charge at Dundarrogh is £25.00 per night BED ONLY.
There is a kitchen, so simple Self Service Breakfast and lunch Preparation would be easy.
It may be possible to arrange for an evening meal to be provided by a caterer from the
Corrie Golf Club just across the road. Unfortunately the cafe there is about to change
hands, so we will need to see how things work out with the new proprietors first.
One possibility is to go for four nights from Monday to Friday though this may be changed
once we know what the group would like to do.
The ferry to Arran sails from Ardrossan and travel time to Ardrossan is approximately four
hours by road. The crossing from Ardrossan to Brodick is fifty five minutes. Brodick to
Sannox by road is about twenty minutes.
Our initial idea is to spend the time along the lines of the trip which was made to
Ffaldybrenin some years ago, however we hope that the group can all suggest what they
would like to do, and following initial discussions a programme can be pulled together.
If the idea of spending a few days amid beautiful scenery, with peace and tranquility, along
with fellow christians; appeals to you, please contact John and Anne Peters and we will
organise an initial meeting to answer questions, hear suggestions, and hopefully gather
sufficient information to organise the visit.
