Melanie Reed

Hello, my name is Melanie, and I am delighted to have the opportunity of exploring the North Yorkshire Dales as I seek to serve the good folk of the Circuit. My husband, Paul, and I were both born and bred in Cornwall but have lived in numerous places (19 at the last count), both home and abroad, firstly due to his 22-year career in the Royal Navy and latterly due to my service as a Methodist Minister, including my time as a commissioned Chaplain in the Royal Air Force. We have three grown up children, Crystal, Rebecca, and Toby. Our shared hobbies include walking in God's beautiful countryside, regular fitness sessions at home following an online programme, buying old furniture and up-cycling it, using noisy sanding machines, and then furniture paint and sealing wax, watching 'Bargain Hunt', gardening, and following the Premiership Rugby with all the associated armchair commentary! I also enjoy playing my saxophone (for my own enjoyment only) and I love the Times2 crosswords, especially the jumbo ones. I have a deep love of Celtic Christianity with a particular draw towards Holy Island on Lindisfarne, which is, in my experience, a truly 'magical' place. My ministry has always been about people, for I believe wholeheartedly that church can, and must be, a place where all, regardless of who they are or where they have come from, can know, and feel, that they are loved, valued, included and unique.
