Many of you kindly volunteered to help out at Church on Show at Wensleydale Show last year. We would all be very grateful if you could help out again this year.
The Show is on Saturday, 26 August. The same size pitch has been booked as last year, to accommodate the Church About the Dale trailer, a marquee and an area where people can sit and enjoy free refreshments. The family challenge is being built around the story of Noah's Ark, there will be a related craft activity for children and visitors will be invited to think about God's promises.
The volunteer roles are:
a) to help with setting up and taking down the Show resources — help on the evening of Friday, 25 August will be particularly welcome;
b) to serve refreshments (teas, coffees, bottled water, cakes and biscuits)
c) to welcome visitors and encourage them to take part ("Fishers") and to offer support to people as they think about God's promises ("Guides").
Parishes will again be invited to provide home baked cakes and biscuits — they responded very generously last year, but nonetheless the refreshment tent was very nearly eaten clean.
A training session for Fisher and Guide volunteers will be held on the morning of Saturday 15 July, probably in Leyburn Methodist Hall. This will be followed up with briefings on the day and crib sheets. The plan is to have a rota for volunteers this year, as we did in 2015.
Volunteers' Show entry ticket costs will be refunded.
I do hope that you can help this year. If you have friends who would be happy to join in too, all the better. Do let me know.
Have a lovely Easter.
