Job Title: Rural Administrative Assistant
Location: Subject to agreement, with an opportunity for working from home.
Accountability: The Rural Administrative Assistant will be employed by the North Yorkshire Dales Methodist Circuit and will be under the supervision of the Superintendent Minister, or people acting on her/his behalf, and will be accountable to the management group.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
Work in partnership with the Minister and 16 rural church communities to:
Offer general admin support in key areas, essential for the continued life of the rural chapels. (SFA, property returns etc.)
Attend Circuit meetings as required (max 4 per year), and any other meetings when requested
Keep adequate records of contacts, work undertaken and expenses incurred
Provide assistance and support to local chapels relating to financial issues
Deal with matters on property website as required
These tasks may be varied after discussion and agreement with the management group.
Terms and Conditions:
This appointment is fixed-term for three years due to budgetary constraints.
This appointment is also suitable for someone who is self-employed.
An average of 15 hours per month to be worked flexibly as and when required.
The rate of pay will be £9.00 per hour, payable monthly, part in arrears part in advance, on the 15th day of the month being worked, plus 6% pension contributions and reasonable expenses.
Annual leave will be 22 hours per year, which includes an allowance for Bank Holidays. This is the equivalent of the full time allowance of 5.6 weeks, including Bank Holidays.
The appointment will be subject to satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service, Enhanced Criminal Record check and references.
The appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a three months' probationary period.
Training/induction will be provided
Good communication skills: including a good understanding and use of written and spoken English
Basic IT skills: including ability to work online and use software packages, Word, Excel, etc.
Ability to collect and collate statistical information
Ability to work with figures, basic book-keeping skills
A good understanding of handling confidential/ personal information
Flexible attitude towards work and hours
Valid Driving Licence
Car owner — due to geographical spread of villages
To draft letters and record minutes
To have an understanding of the Methodist Church and its aims
Clean Driving Licence
