Back in February 2017 in a joint letter to the Home Secretary, the leaders of five Churches expressed their concern at the Government's intention to suspend the programme for the safe re-settlement of unaccompanied minors seeking refuge in the United Kingdom. This is commonly known as the 'Dubs' scheme after Sir Alf Dubs.

In a non-binding largely symbolic vote on Wednesday 1 March MPs voted in favour of keeping the scheme open. Whilst a good test of how Parliament feels more needs doing.

This Tuesday 7 March a cross party group of MPs are taking a new amendment to Parliament and if successful it will force Government to re-consult Local Authorities and identify further capacity to help children through the Dubs scheme.

Lord Alf Dubs says "This is our chance to put Britain back on the right side of history..."

We need to make sure that all the MPs who have spoken up — in debates, on social media, in speeches and at the ballot today — come together and vote to save the Dubs scheme on Tuesday.

Please email your MP and convince them to save the Dubs scheme on Tuesday.

We had two days to ponder Jonah in the art workshops at Middleton in July as a follow on from Bible month which had run on the theme of Jonah in June. Faith, forgiveness and racism all meaty themes, but the whale (or big fish) kept surfacing and splashing about as we tried working with willow, clay and...

The Summerfest is underway at the Scargill Movement in Wharfedale. This year they are looking at the Apostle Peter of whom many tales are told in the New Testament and he himself is generally accredited with writing one of the letters. The 'Across in the Woods' team were invited to run an afternoon session, we were 'up against' the water slide; which is all swimsuits and fairy...
